B\u00e9cancour, December 13, 2023 – <\/strong>The Nemaska Lithium project reaches a new milestone with the publication of the results of its voluntary environmental and social study. Produced specifically for its lithium hydroxide production plant in B\u00e9cancour, the report presents nine issues identified during two years of consultation with the community. The study includes over a hundred mitigation measures and more than a dozen programs and action plans to implement them. This concludes the company’s innovative social approach.<\/p>\n

More accessible online information
\n<\/strong>Nemaska Lithium’s participatory online platform has been revamped to keep pace with the plant’s construction phase. This platform will now serve as an information point for community members wishing to find out more about current and future work. The platform will also serve as a gateway for managing construction-related reports. It will also give citizens the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the project and the mitigation initiatives in place.<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Solid collaboration with the community
\n<\/strong>Nemaska Lithium has set up a liaison committee to maintain a privileged channel of dialogue and transparency with its host communities. The committee will be made up of citizens, as well as representatives from the municipality of B\u00e9cancour, the W8banaki Nation and various key organizations in the Centre-du-Qu\u00e9bec region. This initiative will enable the community to actively contribute to the continuous improvement of Nemaska Lithium’s operations.<\/p>\n

Due to the large number of citizen applications received, Nemaska Lithium held a self-appointment meeting with candidates on December 7, so that they could determine their representatives on the Committee. A first meeting of the Liaison Committee is scheduled for early 2024. It will be possible to follow the Committee’s work, including access to presentations and meeting minutes, on the online platform at www.consultationsnemaskalithium.com\/comite-de-liaison<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nemaska Lithium also aims to set up a liaison committee with the W8banaki Nation. This committee should be set up in 2024.<\/p>\n
